I would like to put my say into the Hope Street parking lot issue. I have seen Greenfield lose a lot of business because there are no good things that can happen to this town without all the people agreeing on things.
The parking lot has been a parking lot for at least 77 years, used by businesses, churches and the courthouse. It would be a big mistake to put housing in there because it would hurt the people on Prospect Street, Prospect Avenue and even Hope Street. I just think it would be a real big mistake to have it there. If you want to put housing in, the old Howard Johnson lot would be a better place.
I served as a member of the City Council. I know it is hard to reach agreement on some issues, but so many people are upset about this location that I think we need to work on a better solution that doesn’t drive us apart.
Please vote yes to repeal the City Council vote to sell the Hope Street property, and let’s try to come up with a better solution that is more of a compromise than a fight.
