The Franklin County Bulldogs (seniors) defeated Ludlow, 28-21, in the quarterfinals of the Suburban Amateur Football League playoffs in Easthampton on Oct. 26
Finn Coffin led the offense with two touchdown receptions from Casey Burke. Coffin’s touchdown grabs were from 45 and 11 yards. Coffin also notched a 2-point conversion. Bryce Zraunig led the rushing attack with 83 yards and a 9-yard touchdown. Gavin Davis added a touchdown on the ground. Phil Brodeur added a 2-point conversion to close out the scoring.
Burke led the defense with eight tackles. Zraunig had five tackles, with Nate Ortiz adding three tackles and a fumble recovery.
The Bulldogs move on to the semifinals Saturday at 6:45pm at Quaboag High School where they take on the Easthampton Eagles for a chance to go to the Super Bowl.
The No. 4 Franklin County Bulldogs pee wees defeated fifth-seeded Frontier, 15-6, on Oct. 25 in South Hadley.
Justin Martin ran for 128 yards and had two touchdowns while also running in a 2-point conversion. Weston Hobbs ran for 52 yards and went 3-for-3 through the air. Hobbs completed a 2-point conversion to EJ Morley.
Defensively Justin Martin led the Bulldogs with seven tackles while Carson Colby added five tackles.
Weston Hobbs, Jaxcyn Slauenwhite, Cody Castine and Mason Lovett also chipped in with three tackles apiece. Percy Eady and Holden Hobbs rounded out the defense with two tackles each.
The Franklin County Bulldogs (juniors) won their first-round playoff game, 13-6, against Palmer.
The Bulldogs got touchdowns from Owen Martineau and Anthony Ruggeri. Wyatt Wilkens added a conversion to round out the scoring. A host of Bulldogs performed well on defense. The Bulldogs got strong efforts form Pheonyx Maynard, Gavin Keene, Owen Castine, Colton Rider and Kent Warner.
Greenfield Elks Pitch League
Results from Wednesday evening at the Elks Club:
Roxanne Goulet and Todd Goulet tied for first place with 12 points. Joe Ruggeri tied for second with 11 points. There was a five-way tie for third place. Tim Wondoloski, John Richardson, Erin Quintana, Jan McMahon and Brian Derry all had ten points.
Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley
Here are the high score results for last week from Shelbourne Falls. In Sunday Scotch Doubles, Joe Beausolieil, Bren Clark, Kyle Leger and Kyle Wilder finished with a 99 in high single. Kyle Leger and Kyle Wilder scored a 291 in high triple.
From Monday Mixed League results, Tera Tippett scored a 108 in high single and a 293 in high triple. Chris Lafreniere had a 109 in high single, while John Herron scored a 300 in high triple.
From Tuesday Mixed League, Nancy Purington and Mindy Goodin scored an 89 in high single. Goodin notched a 253 in high triple. Paul Hollings scored a 104 in high single and a 283 in high triple.
From Wednesday Mixed League action, Jill Jablonski rolled a 107 in high single and a 270 in high triple.
Ultimate Frisbee
The Four Rivers boys’ varsity ultimate squad swept the competition to capture a victory at the Pioneer Valley Invitational on Oct. 25th.
Four Rivers defeated Lincoln Sudbury (13-2), Boston Club (13-2) and the Vermont All-Stars (13-7) to get to the final against a youth All-Star team from Boston. Four Rivers took home the win with a 11-8 victory in the finals.
The Four Rivers girls team finished second, defeating Lexington and Vermont in preliminary play. The Middle School team from Four Rivers took home a victory in the middle school division.
Greenfield Country Club
In the Greenskeepers Revenge event over the weekend, Doug Farrick, Tom Schneider, Ernie Patnode, Gail Miller, Gordon Parker, Susan Parker scored a 42 (gross). Nancy Robie, Al Dedinas , Bill Luippold, Sue O’Connor, Justin, McCloud and Chris Zukowski scored a 40 (net).
Touch Football
Gill CC Woodworking 14, Tar Heels 0 – Quarterback Pat Viencek fired two touchdown passes to Adam Bastarache in the victory. The Tar Heels got in the red zone twice, but the opposing defensive line led by Jason Donnall, Tavist Rodriguez, Tyler Hobbs and Tyson Dowdy had five sacks. The first place Tar Heels got strong games from Calvin and Curtis Dowers in a losing effort.
Sirum 19, J&J Athletics 6 – Quarterback Parker Hickey took control of the game Sunday, rushing for three touchdowns and then adding an extra point to earn Sirum’s fifth victory. Sirum’s defense had five interceptions, led by Tyler Charbeneau, Shane Andrews, Colin Cloutier, and Nuny Vega. J&J quarterback Mak Rodgers found Erik Pardee for a 13-yard touchdown. Adam Osherman and Mason Meadows had strong games in a losing effort.
Bears 13 – Panthers 0 – The Bears and Panthers squared off in a playoff game. Bears quarterback Evan Graham threw touchdowns to Jordan Miller and DJ Whitley to secure the shutout win. Tishay Johnson added an extra point. TJ Perry also had a strong game. The Panthers offensive moved all day, led by Seth Aldrich, Jarod Hart, TJ Swindell and Dan Jenks.
