NORTHFIELD — Greenfield Cooperative Bank is renovating its Northfield branch at 144 Main St. in an effort to enhance customers’ experience while supporting the bank’s continued growth in the community.

The project began the weekend of Oct. 11 and the work will result in the branch being temporarily closed for the first four weeks of December. Renovations are expected to be finished in the spring, at which time, the bank plans to celebrate the branch’s reopening.

Katherine Babinski, who serves as assistant vice president, security and facilities administrator at Greenfield Cooperative Bank, explained the Northfield branch’s drive-up window is currently unavailable, but the walk-up ATM is open 24/7 and the lobby continues to be open during normal business hours. She said the renovation work is being handled by Keiter Corporation of West Springfield.

Once the work is completed, the branch plans to have expanded hours, with earlier weekday openings and new Saturday hours.

“Our Northfield branch is an important part of the community, and these renovations will ensure it continues to meet the needs of our customers for years to come,” Branch Manager Kristen Canedy said in a statement. “We’re excited to create a more modern, welcoming space while keeping the same friendly, personal service our customers count on.”

During the renovations, customers are encouraged to use online and mobile banking services or visit other branch locations. Regular updates and announcements will be shared on the bank’s website, which includes a dedicated landing page at greenfieldcoopbank.com/coming-soon-to-northfield with the latest information.
