Hydrant flushing set to start Monday
ERVING — Fire hydrants in town will be flushed starting Monday, Oct. 20.
The Water Department will flush the hydrants between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., or until the work is complete.
Volunteers sought for cemetery cleanup
MONTAGUE — The Cemetery Commission is seeking volunteers for the fall cleanup of Highland Cemetery on Millers Falls Road on Saturday, Oct. 25.

Migrating birds presentation coming to Discovery Center
TURNERS FALLS — Ornithologist Chad Witko will discuss bird migration at the Great Falls Discovery Center on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 2 to 3 p.m.
The talk, “Wings Without Borders: A Bird Migration Talk,” will feature an exploration into the science and symbolism of migration by Witko. The talk is for ages 12 and older.
Turners Falls deputy chief earns state accreditation
TURNERS FALLS — For his education and experience, Turners Falls Deputy Fire Chief Kyle Cogswell earned an accreditation from the Massachusetts Fire Service Commission, a gubernatorial-appointed board, on Sept. 30.
The accreditation is a voluntary program that helps bolster professional development within fire departments and demonstrate commitment to community service, according to the Fire Service Commission.
