Just read the Oct. 11 front page article on the “financial crisis” facing “municipalities across the state.” One piece of information struck me particularly hard, concerning the state’s PILOT reimbursement rates to towns for state-owned land in FY24: the state average — $127/acre; Suffolk County — $5,504/acre; Franklin County (wait for it) — $32/acre. Surely I must be dreaming: Hello?!
