Happy Feet walks set for Oct. 7 and Oct. 20
NORTHFIELD — Participants in the Northfield Senior Center’s Happy Feet walking program have two outings planned in October.
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, seniors and their dogs are invited for a walk around the Barton Cove campground off Route 2 in Gill at 10 a.m.
On Monday, Oct. 20, seniors will walk from the Northfield Senior Center to Northfield Elementary School at 9:45 a.m. to visit with the kindergartners at recess. Dogs are not allowed on this walk.
Severe thunderstorms or heavy rain will cancel the walks.
Pints for Programs fundraiser set for Oct. 10
NORTHFIELD — A Pints for Programs fundraiser to support the Northfield Senior Center will be held at The Brewery at Four Star Farms, 508 Pine Meadow Road, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10.
The Friends of the Northfield Senior Center will raffle off prize baskets to raise money to replace the center’s worn-out chairs. Raffle tickets are $1 each or $5 for six.
Prize baskets include a breakfast-themed basket with various teas, honeys and jams; a hair care basket with products from Bobbie’s Hair & Nail Salon; two Halloween-themed baskets from Cameron’s Winery; a $25 gift card to the Northfield Food Mart; an all-things-Northfield basket featuring products from local businesses; and a selection of handcrafted items from Peterman’s Bowls in Gill.
Live music will be provided by members of the Crowd the Plough band.
Riverboat cruise set for Oct. 11
LEYDEN — Residents can join the Leyden Recreation Committee and Council on Aging on a free riverboat cruise down the Connecticut River at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11.
Participants can enjoy views and learn more about the culture, habitats and natural history of the 12-mile stretch of river. Leyden residents of all ages are welcome, and should plan to arrive at the docks at the Riverview Picnic Area, 144 Pine Meadow Road in Northfield, at least 15 minutes before departure time.

Oct. 18: Church serving roast pork
NORTHFIELD — St. Patrick’s Church at 80 Main St. will hold a to-go roast pork dinner on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Each meal includes roast pork, red potatoes, carrots, applesauce, a roll and dessert. Meals are $15 and must be ordered by Tuesday, Oct. 14.
