GREENFIELD — As colder weather draws near, Stone Soup Cafe is starting a new program that will provide regular servings of soup.

Stone Soup Cafe will begin offering a Soup CSA program starting in October. Participants can pay in advance for six months of soup, equating to $10 per quart, with monthly pick-ups at the cafe, which operates out of All Souls Church at 399 Main St.

This new option offers people a chance to stock up on soups for the colder months that come frozen and can be reheated for later consumption.

Participants can pick from four varieties of soup for each month, including a vegan option, a meat option and two seasonal favorites. Options include chicken vegetable, split pea, ginger butternut, tomato basil, vegan cream of broccoli, minestrone and more. If there are extra quarts available on pick-up days, people can pay $15 for an extra quart.

Stone Soup Cafe Executive Director and Chef Kirsten Levitt said the idea for offering the Soup CSA arose from community demand.

“Our community has been asking us to make extra soup and sell it, and it feels like the right time to do it,” she said, adding that she feels this is just another way that Stone Soup Cafe can offer support in the winter months.

Soup CSA registration is open now, and the first pick-ups will be on Saturday, Oct. 18, and Monday, Oct. 20, with pick-up hours on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., and Mondays from 3 to 5 p.m. This program will last through March 2026, with the last pick-up days on Saturday, March 14, and Monday, March 16.
