The Franklin County Bulldogs Senior Division team moved to 2-1 on the season after a 31-6 victory over Ludlow over the weekend. 

The Bulldogs started off the scoring with a 5-yard TD run by Jackson Puchalski. Avery Lococo scored on a 42-yard touchdown pass from Ben Woodard, and Woodard then connected with Wes Darling on a 22-yard touchdown pass to lead at the half at 19-6.

The Bulldogs closed out the game with 50-yard touchdown run by Bryce Zraunig and then scored on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Casey Burke to Finn Coffin. 

The defense was led by Burke who had five tackles. Darling had four tackles, a sack, and a pass deflected. Xaviay Reynolds had four tackles and an interception. Zraunig recorded four tackles and Ryan Turner had three tackles and a sack. 

The Bulldogs return home on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. at Vets Field versus Quabbin. 

Frontier Juniors win

Johnny Stanisewski threw two passing touchdowns to Ryan Washburn, helping Frontier to a 24-0 win over Quabbin.

Kyrie Petrizzi-Richmond caught a pass for the extra point. Jack Carney ran 40 yards for a touchdown. Lane Kicza caught a pass for the extra point.

FC PeeWees also win

The Franklin County Bulldogs beat Ludlow, 8-0, over the weekend.

Brock Puchalski scored the lone touchdown and ended up 93 yards on the day. The two-point conversion was a pass from Kaydin Snow-Rose to Owen Martineau.

Defense was the story of the game, as Orion Oritz had an interception while Colton Rider recovered a fumble he created. Toby Campbell hurried the QB all day.

Field hockey

Greenfield Juniors Field Hockey

Greenfiekld edged Longmeadow, 2-1, on Sunday thanks to goals from Dani Zraunig and Charley Deane. Penelope Gioules had an assist, as did Zraunig, and Hailey Sadler made two saves in goal.

On Saturday, Gioules and Zraunig buried goals in Greenfield’s 2-0 win over Westfield. Charlie Lovett had an assist and Sadler made two saves for the shutout.

Greenfield Bantams

The Greenfield Bantams dropped a 4-2 decision to Longmeadow on Sunday, despite goals from Grayson Baker and Ellie Galeski.

Reaghan Bernard assisted on a goal while keeper Willow Bettencourt made one save.

Greenfield tied Westfield 1-1 on Saturday thanks to a goal from Baker and an assist from Eleanor Jones.

Bettencourt made one save.

Golf

CCG Mixed Invitational

Michael and Jill Mertes teamed for the low gross of 66 at the Country Club of Greenfield’s Mixed Invitational over the weekend.

Alia Godek and Dean Godek shot 68 to tie for second with Helen Wright and Tim McKenna, as we as Will Conant and Lana O’Connor.

Low net winners were Michael and Karen Duclos (62).

CFC Open Singles

On Sunday at Crumpin-Fox Club, Alex White shot 78 to take low gross in the club’s open singles tourney.

Drew Phili was second (81), and Craig Bodenstein won the net (71) ahead of second place Jan Anctil (73).

CCG 200 club

The team of Tom Herzig, Terry Boyce, John Missale, Lana O’Connor, Judy Strong and Sabrini Mancini shot 54 to win low gross at the 200 Club Fall Scramble over the weekend.
