Wes Brown Trio coming to Peskeompskut Park

TURNERS FALLS — The Wes Brown Trio will be at Peskeompskut Park on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m., performing jazz piano, including ragtime and modern improv genres.

Gary Fieldman will join Brown on percussion and Shimon Ben-Shir on bass for this free concert at the park, located at Seventh Street and Avenue A.

Three Speed to perform Thursday

TURNERS FALLS — The rock band Three Speed featuring Steve Ellis, Greg Snedeker and Chris Ellis will perform on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at Peskeompskut Park.

The concert will feature rock covers with influences of reggae, funk and pop. The concert is free, and guests are encouraged to bring their own seating.

Healing group to start at The Brick House

TURNERS FALLS — A confidential support group helping young women navigate the impact of interpersonal violence and trauma will start on Friday, Aug. 29, at The Brick House Community Resource Center on Third Street as well as on Zoom.

The program, called “Beyond Trauma: A Healing Journey,” is a collaborative program with the Salasin Project in Greenfield, offering participants an opportunity to learn about creating safety, healthy relationships and healing activities.

This is an eight-week program running from Aug. 29 through Oct. 10, with a 10 to 11:30 a.m. meeting time. This program is open to female-identifying people over the age of 18.

Learn about the women who made Franklin County

TURNERS FALLS — Visitors to the Great Falls Discovery Center on Sunday, Aug. 31, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. are invited to experience Franklin County through the maps, stories, photos and lives of four women who worked here. The program is intended to be held outdoors, but will be moved inside in the event of inclement weather.
