The recent article on the Hope Street lot petition mentioned that only two people didn’t want to sign. I may have been one of them. I was asked to sign it but the person who approached me wouldn’t answer simple questions about the petition’s purpose, talking only vaguely about the location and a proposed development that would be harmful to the city. When I pressed for more details, she handed me a flyer,  asked me to sign right away and said I could take the flyer home to read.  A friend of mine said the same thing happened to her. I hope that the question put on the ballot is more straightforward about the purpose so that Greenfield residents are voting with knowledge of the issues.
