Aug. 15: Date night at the Buckland Recreation Area

BUCKLAND — The Friends of the Buckland Recreation Committee will host an adults-only date night event at the Buckland Recreation Area on Friday, Aug. 15.

Attendees can enjoy music, games and socializing around the pool at 66 Ashfield Road from 6 to 9 p.m. The event is only open to those ages 21 and up.

The pool will be closed to the general public at 5 p.m. to prepare for the date night event. A rain date has been set for Friday, Aug. 22. For more information, email friendsofbucklandrecreation@gmail.com.

Author to discuss postpartum guidebook

ASHFIELD — The Belding Memorial Library will host local author Amy Troyer-Karas for a reading and discussion on her booklet “Stormy Waters,” which serves as a guidebook for anyone in the midst of emotional, mental or spiritual crisis after giving birth. It also includes a section intended for family members and loved ones.

The event will take place at the library, 344 Main St., on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 10:30 a.m. Coffee and pastries will be served.

Arms Library event marks end of Summer Reading Program

SHELBURNE FALLS — Join the Arms Library for a celebration of reading and the end of the “Level Up at the Library” Summer Reading Program on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The library, at 60 Bridge St., will have cake, ice cream, snacks, raffles, games and T-shirts for those who completed the summer program. Attendees should bring their reading logs.

A rain/heat date has been set for Sunday, Aug. 17, at 1 to 3 p.m.

Buckland Recreation holding open house

BUCKLAND — The Friends of the Buckland Recreation Committee will host a summer open house at the Buckland Recreation Area from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24.

Attendees can enjoy the pool, patio area and nearby walking trails, and learn about what Buckland Recreation has to offer. The event is free to attend for all Buckland residents and residents of the other member towns of the Mohawk Trail Regional School District, and donations will be accepted to support programming and facility needs.
