I’m delighted to hear that Greenfield is considering adopting an ordinance to prioritize EVs for municipal vehicles (“Greenfield City Council president looks to prioritize EVs with proposed ordinance,” Recorder, Aug 7). It’s a smart move, putting Greenfield closer to eligibility for the grants and incentives that come with the Climate Leader designation.

I’m a member of Conway’s Sustainability Committee, and we’re discussing how Conway might move in that direction, too. It has been inspiring to see nearby towns like Ashfield, Shelburne, and Greenfield take serious steps to reduce both emissions and costs. Switching to electric vehicles wherever it’s feasible benefits the towns, but it also benefits all of us. It’s a step towards a better climate. I’ll be rooting for Greenfield, hoping they vote to adopt this ordinance, and I hope other cities and towns follow their example.
