A recent death notice brought back a fond memory. Over 20 years ago, during the time Janet Lee Bond worked for the Recorder, I was interviewed about the Pleasant Street Community Garden. I’d never met Janet, but she called me because I’d mentioned in the interview that our members hoped to raise enough money to acquire a badly needed tool shed. Janet said she was no longer using her garden shed due to a medical condition, and offered to donate it to our little community project. Her generosity saved us well over a thousand dollars. Janet’s kindness is remembered, and she will be missed.
