The 44th Montague Mug Race is right around the corner, with signups ongoing for the race which is scheduled for Aug. 16.
The race is 5.5 miles with a 2 mile mini run/walk option as well. The race begins at Montague Center Common at 8:30 a.m. with the 2 mile race kicking off at 8:35 a.m. Both races finish at the ball field on Station Street. All proceeds from the race benefit the Montague Fire Association and Montague Church. Pewter Mugs are awarded to the top male and female finisher.

Knights of Columbus League
Ed Sargent took first with a score of 12 in the Knights of Columbus League at Thomas Memorial on Wednesday.
Bill Devino placed second (7) and Steve Call finished in third (5). Call won closest to the pin on No. 7 (one feet, two inches) and Ron Lenois won on No. 9 (18-9). Al Wondoloski, Bill Chalmers and Ed Baker won skins while Call (35) and Charlie Peters (36) carded the low gross scores.
Maynard Road Race
The Don Maynard Memorial Road Race returns to Greenfield in September, with the race scheduled for Sept. 20.
The race is changing from a five miler to a 5K race this year, beginning at the Greenfield Municipal Swimming Area at 9:30 a.m. Online registration is available at RunSignup.com. Any questions or to volunteer call or text Chuck Adams at 413-522-6688.
Newt Guilbault signups
Registration for Newt Guilbault Fall Ball in Turners Falls is open until Aug. 15.
