Clinging to history
So 225 years ago a local rich guy gets an item. Fifty years later, he “bequeaths” it to the town. For a while the town finds uses for it. Eventually it is no longer useful, but for some reason we “have” to put it in a display box and spend resources storing, displaying, and moving it around.
Sounds like a good candidate for “declared surplus material” and auction it off.It is possible that those who don’t study history are doomed to repeat it; but apparently so are the people who cling to history.
Let’s make sure there is an opening for new things, new art, new people, and new ideas!
