I appreciate the efforts of Recorder columnist Daniel Cantor Yalowitz. His column every other Monday feels like an attempt at helping people cope with what he and others perceive as a difficult time for all Americans. It’s true many are disappointed in the election results of 2024. However not everyone is suffering from (TDS) Trump derangement syndrome. For every, outspoken/in your face activist lecturing others on the dangers of Orange Hitler and whatever else is trending with America’s betters, there are many quietly going about their day with a sense of optimism and pride. This group is inclusive, a term that has become ubiquitous and often weaponized in recent years.

Take a look at the positive impact this administration has had on our nation’s military. A refocusing on its primary mission is underway, which is to defend the country and its interests, both domestically and abroad. We now have the defense secretary working out in the snow with U.S. forces in Poland. Truly physically capable is the expectation of each and every member. Moral is up, troops are confident and have a sense of purpose.

Fort Benning, the home of the infantry since 1918 has its name back. This time in honor of Cpl. Fred G. Benning, a World War 1 veteran who received the Distinguished Service Cross for his heroism. Fort Bragg is also back. Renaming these camps was essential.

How about the price of gas? Down significantly with some states seeing as much as a 18% decrease over the same time last year. A quick glance at the internet lets us know that fuel prices are as low as $2.73 in western Massachusetts. As a driving enthusiast and frequent road tripper this savings will greatly enhance my summer vacation experience with the family. With a projected savings of $1,195 over the next 12 months, I may stay a few extra days. Life is good!

This savings is also being felt by the 2.3 million or 72% working class Baystaters who drive their automobile to work, with an average commute time of 29.4 minutes. These savings are significant.

So to the older folks hanging out on the overpass and the wealthy histrionic college student engaging in performative, virtue signaling. We see you!

And please don’t assume everyone is unhappy and on edge. Most of us just want to be left out of the invasive leftist activism.
