Monthly brown bag distribution set for Jan. 4

GREENFIELD — The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts’ monthly brown bag program for income-qualifying seniors will be held Thursday, Jan. 4, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the Greenfield Senior Center.

An application is required and can be picked up at the Senior Center. Seniors who are unable to get to the food distribution can send a friend, family member or neighbor in their place.

Senior Center hosting mini wellness retreat

GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Senior Center will host a mini wellness retreat with qigong and yoga led by Lynne Smith on Friday, Jan. 5, from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Participants will engage in calming breathing exercises promoting inner balance and relaxation; learn exercises to warm up the body, improve flexibility and relieve chronic pain; and create the “I Am” mandala to music. The mandala will be a simple art and mindfulness exercise aimed at cultivating a kinder relationship with oneself. No experience with art is required.

This workshop accommodates all abilities. Advance registration with a $10 fee and Senior Center membership (free) are required. Stop by the center’s front desk to sign up.
