I grew up in Greenfield and have lived here most of my life. For a long time, I had mixed feelings about Greenfield. No doubt there are challenges, but in the end we all want the same thing — a vibrant, thriving, affordable community that offers residents a safe place to live, good jobs, a variety of places to shop, eat and enjoy activities. It hasn’t been easy, but Mayor Roxann Wedegartner has led us in the right direction, step by step.

Not everyone liked it, but the majority of Greenfield voters approved building the new library. It was a really tough time, but flash forward and we have a state of the art, beautiful library, completed on time and within budget. Anchoring the other end of Main Street is the nearly complete new fire station. Both will serve the community well for many years to come. Long term, it was the right thing to do and Wedegartner was key in making it happen.

In the heart of downtown we will have a newly remodeled Wilson’s, housing an expanded, bustling Green Fields Market, and offering much-needed housing on the upper floors. In addition, a long-ago promise for a new skate park was fulfilled under Wedegartner’s leadership. These positive steps are making the Greenfield we envision a reality.

During the mayoral debate, Wedegartner’s work for our community was clearly communicated. I saw the stark difference between the mayor and her opponent, who offered no concrete plans or proposals. I have no doubt her opponent cares, but who’s going to get the work done? Who has proven they can make the dream a reality?

I have the utmost confidence in Wedegartner guiding us forward for the next four years. I ask that you join me in voting for her on Nov 7.
