The Recorder’s Oct. 20 article on Greenfield’s City Council candidates forum said the candidates discussed “a range of hot button topics, including tax title takings, and a process known as “home-equity theft.”

In fact, candidate WahabMinhas also gave very articulate testimony the next night at the City Council’s October meeting. He said: “I am troubled by the city’s position regarding the private property rights of homeowners. The issue of ‘home equity theft’ in Greenfield shows that the mayor and city leadership are hell bent on stealing people’s property, rather than complying with U.S. Supreme Court ruling from last May that state home equity theft is unconstitutional. The time is now to settle just compensation for the victims as any further delays will incur unnecessary and exorbitant legal cost to the city … Our city’s lawyer is trying absolve our city of any responsibility for years of taking surplus equity that does not belong to us. This is just wrong.”

We are impressed by WahabMinhas, who was raised in Greenfield. This young businessman offers great leadership skills and vision for our city.

We recommend you vote for Minhas for Greenfield Council at-large on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7!
