For over 20 years, my husband and I moved all over the country as the Navy took us from place to place. In November 2020, we said goodbye to Navy life as he retired and focused on where we wanted to settle as our “forever home.” Through a series of coincidences we found Greenfield and sort of fell in love.
This town is unlike anywhere else we have ever lived. The people of this community truly care about one another and value the lives and future of the people who live here. That is why it was so shocking when we found out that the mayor was trying to catastrophically cut the school budget and that she continued to support a police chief who was found guilty of racial discrimination.
Those actions don’t match the city that we came to. We got involved quickly and found out that Virginia “Ginny” DeSorgher was running for mayor. Not only that, but she managed to find the money to fund the schools while ensuring that no department was facing layoffs and all services would continue as normal.
This place cannot grow and be the city it should be unless we have leadership that is investing in the pillars of a community, which are education and public safety. Ginny DeSorgher has proven that she is devoted to those things and that is why we are voting for her in the coming election.
