In the Sept. 1 Recorder, guest columnist Marianna Ritchey noted her “strong sense that something is very wrong with certain aspects of our current city leadership. Cronyism and back door dealings are rampant, and the public has been left out of many decisions that directly affect our lives” [“Election an opportunity for change”].

As I have observed and experienced personally how politics work in Greenfield, I have come to the same conclusion as the writer and I therefore wholeheartedly endorse Virginia DeSorgher as Greenfield’s next mayor.

My sense is that under Greenfield’s current leadership, the concerns of everyday citizens often take a back seat to certain business interests in town, and that rules are applied selectively, depending on one’s relationship with the mayor.

After talking with DeSorgher and reading her platform, I am confident that she will advocate and work for the interests and concerns of Greenfield’s residents, and that a DeSorgher administration will be a good deal fairer, more transparent, and effective than the current administration.
