The Aug. 15 edition of the Recorder contained the Greenfield police log activity for last July. Listed was a July 8 entry for a reported 11 p.m. break-in at Elm Terrace. The Elm Terrace development contains 108 apartments for elderly and disabled residents. The apartments are in very close proximity to one another. There are four apartments to a section and 2-3 sections in each building. I certainly would have been more cautious and vigilant of my surroundings in my comings and goings had I known that a neighbor had recently experienced a break-in. I am concerned that it took so long to have this information publicized. As a long-time resident, I am aware that lag time has not always been the case in Greenfield. I’m also aware that Montague police log information is submitted and printed with less lag time. I ask that the Recorder and Greenfield police work more closely together on the issue of informing and protecting the public in a more timely manner. This would be much appreciated!
