Terry Boyce and Sue Sigda placed first (79) while Teresa Varner and Nancy Donoghue settled for second (86) as the Country Club of Greenfield held a Blind Draw of Partners contest on Tuesday.
Ann McHugh and Susan O’Connor carded a low net of 62, and Sue McDonald and Anne Corrinet finished in second (68).
• In an Even Holes contest in the 9 Hole Women’s League at CCG on Tuesday Elaine Goodhind (24) and Sherry Chaffee (25) shot the two low scores in the Patty Berg Flight.
Lisa Sullivan and Nancy Robie had the low scores of 25 in the Nancy Lopez Flight, Irene Woods (28) and Sarah Cook (29) topped the JoAnne Carner Flight, Elaine Mount (31) and Angela Berquist (33) bested the Lorena Ochoa Flight, Emily Jarvis (31) and Danica Hochstetler (31) tied for the low score in the Annika Sorenstam Flight while Maggie Valentine (29) and Brenda Dedinas (32) were the top finishers in the Michelle Wie Flight.
Sandy Koufax playoffs
A stellar defensive effort, and five solid innings on the mound from Chase Zranuig powered Greenfield No. 2 to a 5-4 win over Greenfield No. 1 in a PVYBL Sandy Koufax opening-round game on Monday at Franklin Tech.
Greenfield No. 2 trailed 3-1 after four innings but scored twice in the fifth and twice in the sixth to take control. Zraunig had three hits and drove in a run at the plate, while Bodie Burke smacked two hits, including a game-tying two-run single in the fifth. Conner Bergeron also doubled and made some nice plays at second base in the win, while Nico Siano singled and drove in a run. Zraunig struck out one in five innings on the mound before Burke tossed two frames of relief with two punchouts.
Greenfield No. 1 received a five-inning, six-strikeout performance on the mound from Kainen Stevens. Jackson Cogswell was 3-for-3 with two RBIs to pace the offensive effort.
FCL
Bianca Robinson and Olivia Lemay combined to strike out five while Adelaide Ehle homered and singled and Rozalyn Schempp singled to lift the M agic to a 12-8 win over the Fury in a Franklin County Summer Softball League contest on Monday at Murphy Park.
Abby Moffatt, Lyla Mickiewicz and Summer Routhier combined to strike out five for the Fury while Maya Pajak hit safely in the loss.
Montague co-ed
Joe Guidaboni (five hits, three RBIs), Matt Gibson (five hits, eight RBIs), Matt Weeden (four hits, seven RBIs) and Yohenny Pimentel (three hits, three RBIs) lifted AGH Disposal and Recycling to a 27-13 win over Manny’s on Monday in a Montague co-ed softball game.
Mike Cole (five hits, three RBIs), Joe Benedict (three hits) and Angie Renaud (two hits) played well in the loss.
DRIVE Leagues
Kareem Thompson and Ollie Johnson each went for nine points, helping Athol to a 47-45 win over Greenfield in a DRIVE League Boys JV contest on Monday at Stoneleigh Burnham School.
Grayson Thomas led all scorers with 22 points for Greenfield, and David Jung-Hernandez added 13.
• Elsewhere, Hinsdale received 16 points from Caleb Berry and 10 from Chris Colon in a 52-26 win over Orange.
Jayden Dicato led Orange with 12 points.
• In other JV action, Easthampton’s Chase Canon-Smith (13 points) and Pat Larson (11) propelled their side past Southampton, 42-40.
Southampton’s Travis Carpenter (13) and Sam Plumer (10) were high scorers for their team.
• In Men’s League action Monday at Greenfield High School, John Earle scored 16 points and Andrew Ciaglo added 10 to help Antonio’s Pizza take down The Future, 65-62.
The Future’s Lew Borden scored 17 and Josh Hanson followed with 12.
• Elsewhere, Brattleboro defeated Rattigan & Son’s, 70-59, behind 19 points from Oakley Mayer 19 and 16 from Greg Fitzgerald.
Robin Marchese led Rattigan & Son’s with 17, and Malachi Roman tossed in 13.
• Finally, Team No Name received a game-high 25 points from Ethan Slavin, and 15 from Ben Johnson in an 84-58 win over Bruso Computer Solutions.
Martin Cahillane led Bruso with 11 points.
