Northfield has a very well-functioning town government. Reading the Recorder highlights just how lucky we are compared to some other towns. Our Select Board, now comprised of five members thanks to previous visionary committees, is diverse with multiple talents and reflects the variety of people in our town. Anyone sitting in on one of their meetings, or watching on TV, will see their respect for each other, perceptive questions to get at the heart of issues, and regard for different opinions. They work overtime as representatives on many other committees and in researching matters that come before them. They are pro-growth, listen to citizens’ concerns, and understand complex legal ramifications.
Our Selectboard has just this year helped move Northfield ahead on some very big issues. I have faith in them to get things done for us. While I am happy that another candidate has the interest to run for the board this year, I plan to vote for the incumbents, Barbara (Bee) Jacque and Mary Bowen, in next week’s election
