GREENFIELD — Join the Greenfield Public Library, in collaboration with the Tewksbury Public Library, for a free virtual program on bulb gardening on Thursday, April 6, starting at 2 p.m.
Participants will learn about the history of common and not-so-common bulbs and how to bring beauty to their gardens for years to come. This online program will be led by Kathi Gariepy, a lifetime master gardener with the Massachusetts Master Gardener Association and owner of the garden design company Pleasant Vistas.

Alfred Stieglitz’s The Steerage, Dorothea Lange’s Migrant Mother and Sam Shaw’s Marilyn Monroe are just a few of several photographs that participants will examine while exploring the history of images that bring to mind significant events in history.

GREENFIELD — The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts’ monthly brown bag program for qualifying seniors will be held Thursday, April 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Greenfield Senior Center, located at 35 Pleasant St.
According to a notice from Senior Center Activities Director Kathy Dunn, seniors who receive fuel assistance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or other benefits will qualify. To apply, call the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts at 413-247-9738. Applications are also on hand at the Senior Center.
GREENFIELD — Representatives from Perkins Library, which offers more than 75,000 books, newspapers and other publications designed for individuals who have experienced vision loss, will visit the Greenfield Senior Center, 35 Pleasant St., on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.
Formats include Braille, large print and audiobooks. While no alternative reading materials will be on site at the Senior Center, Perkins Library representatives will answer questions and sign residents up for the free service.
No registration is required; however, residents can call the Senior Center at 413-772-1517, ext. 0 to check to see if the representatives will be there.
GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Senior Center at 35 Pleasant St. will host “Cops and Coffee” on Monday, April 10, from 11 a.m. to noon.
Guests are invited to stop by to chat with Greenfield Police officers, hear Police Department updates and meet comfort dog Frankie.
No registration is required for this drop-in session. Senior Center membership is also not required.
GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Senior Center at 35 Pleasant St. will host a workshop on growing orchids, led by Connie Lenz, on Thursday, April 13, from 2 to 3 p.m.
Orchids have a reputation for being difficult to grow, according to a notice from Senior Center Activities Director Kathy Dunn. In fact, many types make good houseplants and will live and re-flower for years if given the right care.
Lenz has been growing orchids for several years and will share her tips and techniques for keeping these unique plants alive and thriving. She will give tips on how to select an orchid and demonstrate what to do once it is home.
