Registration for winter session classes and programs begins on Dec. 12. Girls Basketball League: This program for girls ages 9 to 12 teaches good sportsmanship, teamwork and the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. All players must be able to shoot a basketball on a regulation 10-foot basket. Each player will have one practice per week (either Tuesday or Thursday) and will receive a numbered shirt. Program runs Dec. 3 through Feb. 18.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Class: Taking place Monday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 30. Register at bit.ly/3wgGww8.
Introduction to Pickleball: This three-week beginner lesson will emphasize rules, basic strokes and safety on the court, and is appropriate for those who have never walked on the court and those who want to develop a better understanding of the basics. Dec. 4, 11 and 18 from 10:30 to noon. $30 for members; $60 for non-members. Paddles are provided or participants can bring their own.
Foot Workshop: Participants will learn self-massage techniques to mobilize muscles and tendons that move the feet; tricks to mobilize joints; and the importance of healthy feet for the good of your heart, nervous system and general health. Sunday, Dec 4, 10:30 a.m. to noon. $25 for Y members; $30 for non-members. Price includes take-home toe separators.
New Year’s Eve Gala: Dec. 31, from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the gymnasium. Toasts at 9 p.m. and midnight. $60 per couple; $35 per individual. Cash bar, hors d’oeuvres and music from DJ Bobby C. Child care (for children ages 3 to 12) is available from 7 to 9:30 p.m. $10 per family.
