COLRAIN — A driver was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after the car they were driving, at speeds the fire chief estimated to be between 60 and 70 mph, struck the guardrail in the 400 block of Jacksonville Road and flipped down the embankment.
First responders were requested shortly before 6 p.m. According to Fire Chief Nicholas Anzuoni, Colrain Fire and EMS responded.
The car, a Honda Accord, came to rest upside down. Anzuoni confirmed it was not a case of intoxicated driving.
Anzuoni said the driver was taken by ambulance to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. A passenger, who is a minor, was uninjured. Anzuoni said he was unsure the extent of the driver’s injuries, but that they did sustain facial lacerations.
