Bernardston student makes Simmons Dean’s List

BERNARDSTON — Skyler Cohen of Bernardston was named to the Dean’s List at Simmons University in Boston for the spring semester.

To qualify for Dean’s List status, undergraduate students must obtain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, based on 12 or more credit hours of work in classes using the letter grade system.

Library organizing trivia night

NORTHFIELD — Dickinson Memorial Library is organizing a free trivia night, to be held outside under the tent at the Beech House at the Northfield Golf Club, on Friday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

According to a notice from Programming Librarian Matt Atwood, teams can include up to six players. There will be three rounds of 10 questions, which will be loosely themed around fall.

Drinks will be available for purchase. Attendees are welcome to bring a picnic.

Free jazz concert set for Sept. 22

NORTHFIELD — Dickinson Memorial Library will present a free evening of live jazz with Sarah Clay and the StarCats, to be held outside under the tent at the Beech House at the Northfield Golf Club, on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Sarah Clay and the StarCats is made up of Sarah Clay on flute and vocals, Draa Hobbs on guitar and Steve Bulmer on bass. Drinks will be available for purchase.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Northfield Cultural Council.

Thomas Aquinas College earns high ratings in Princeton Review’s guide

NORTHFIELD — Thomas Aquinas College’s flagship campus in Santa Paula, California recently received high ratings for academics, quality of life and financial aid in The Princeton Review’s 2023 edition of its annual guide, The Best 388 Colleges.

The guide rates colleges in key aspects on a scale from 1 to 99. Thomas Aquinas College earned 91 for academics, 93 for quality of life and 96 for financial aid. Faculty members likewise earned scores of 97 and 98 for being “interesting” and “accessible,” respectively.

The Best 388 Colleges also includes 50 lists of “Top 25” colleges based on a survey it conducted of 138,000 students nationwide. Thomas Aquinas College appears on the following “Top 25” lists:

■No. 1 — Most Religious Students

■No. 3 — The Students Love Their College

■No. 4 — Best Classroom Experience

■No. 6 — Most Beautiful Campus

■No. 7 — Great Financial Aid

■No. 8 — Happiest Students

■No. 9 — Most Accessible Professors
