CONWAY — The Historical Society is hosting “Edward and Orra White Hitchcock: The Untold Story,” a presentation on Edward Hitchcock and Orra White, who lived in Conway in the late 19th century.
The talk will be held at the Conway Historical Society Museum, 50 Main St., on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. and will focus on the couple’s lives while they lived in Conway. The president of Amherst College, Hitchcock was also an influential geologist, paleontologist and preacher.
There is no cost to attend. Refreshments will be served.
SOUTH DEERFIELD — Tickets for South County TRIAD’s annual spaghetti dinner, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 12, are on sale.
Tickets cost $10 and there will be raffles available. The dinner will be held at the Polish American Citizens Club, located at 46 South Main St.
Tickets can be purchased at the South County Senior Center’s temporary location at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 29 Sugarloaf St., on Wednesdays between 9 a.m. and noon. Tickets can also be reserved by calling TRIAD President Sharyn Paciorek at 413-665-3017.
All proceeds go toward regional TRIAD programs, which serve local seniors.
SOUTH DEERFIELD — Ahead of its Friends of the Tilton Library book sale next month, the library is accepting donations of gently used books on Saturdays, Sept. 17 and 24, from 9 to 11 a.m.
The library is looking for fiction, biographies and children’s books to be sold at the Friends book sale, which will be held on Oct. 1. All book conditions will be reviewed upon donation. The library is also accepting purses, which may be donated during library hours at the circulation desk.
The Friends book sale will raise money for library programs.
