Locked in a scoreless game at halftime, the Franklin Tech boys soccer team put three in the back of the net after intermission to secure a 3-0 victory over Duggan on Friday.
Yolvin Ovalle-Meji, Colin Adams and David Klempner all tallied for the Eagles (2-0), with Klempner picking up an assist.
Frontier 1, Easthampton 0 — In a rematch of last year’s Division 4 state final, the visiting Redhawks exacted a bit of revenge on Friday.
Chanhee Son tallied the game’s lone goal on a penalty kick in the 44th minute, lifting Frontier to a 1-0 victory at Nonotuck Park.
Owen Babb made 10 saves for Frontier (1-0), while Easthampton’s Giuseppe DeNucce-Simms stopped five shots.
Smith Academy 7, Greenfield 0 — Ben Hudzik tallied twice and Riley Intrator assisted on a trio of goals for the Falcons on Friday.
Smith led 6-0 at halftime. Cam Graves (goal, two assists), Cameron Zononi (goal, assist), Garrett Willard (goal), Logan Graves (goal) and Matt Scagel (goal) all aided the offensive onslaught, and Ryan Belina combined with Jake Wilcox to pitch the shutout.
Franklin Tech 9, Duggan 0 — The goals came early and often for the Eagles on Friday in Springfield.
Franklin Tech raced out to an early lead and didn’t look back, picking up its first win of the season via a 9-0 Bi-County League triumph.
Kyra Goodell and Lindsey Taylor each scored a pair of goals, the first varsity goals for both. Madyson Lynde, Samantha Duncan and Kiera Korenewsky also had their first career varsity goals on Friday while Kailey Putnam and Anne Kolodziej also found the back of the net in the win.
Kylee Gamache and Madison Brandl each made a save for the Eagles.
Smith Academy 3, Greenfield 0 — Goalie Madison Zononi stopped all six shots she faced in goal for her first career shutout, and the host Falcons tallied all of their goals in the first half for a 3-0 victory over Greenfield in a Bi-County League contest in Hat field.
Emma Moynihan tallied twice for the Falcons (1-0, 1-0), while Caitlin Graves added a goal and assisted on both of Moynihan’s strikes. Haley Springman also had an assist in the win.
Greenfield goalie Makayla Valente made 17 saves in a strong outing between the pipes.
Ware 19.5, Franklin Tech 4.5 — William Belval scored two points for the Eagles at No. 5 thanks to a round of 51, but Franklin Tech fell to Ware on Friday at Cold Spring Country Club in Belchertown.
Alex Sulda had Tech’s low round of the day (45) at No. 2, while Brady Booska shot 49 in the No. 1 spot.
Franklin Tech 3, Smith Voc 2 — A gutsy performance propelled the Eagles to a wild 23-25, 25-10, 25-21, 21-25, 15-16 victory over Smith Vocational in an independent match on Friday.
Standout performers for Franklin Tech were Lillian Poirier (6 aces, 2 kills, 10 digs, 5 assists), Faith Smith (4 aces, 7 kills, 4 digs, 2 blocks), Lea Chapman (5 aces, 5 kills, 3 digs), Shelby O’Leary (1 ace, 2 kills, 10 digs, 7 assists), Cordelia Guerin (5 kills, 5 digs) and Skylei LaPan (7 aces, 3 digs).
Longmeadow 4, Frontier 0 — Ella Flanders stopped 23 shots in the Redhawks’ Suburban League loss to the host Lancers on Friday.
Kyra Richards also made a save in the defeat.
Belchertown 4, Franklin Tech 0 — Abigail Olden got the scoring going for the Orioles in the first quarter before Mya Philpott tallied in the third and Edith Audette and Brooke Stelmokas found the back of the cage in the fourth to lift Belchertown to a County League victory over the Eagles on Friday in Turners.
Keira Stevens made six saves in the loss.
Northampton 9, Turners 1 — Brooke Thayer notched the goal for the Thunder on Friday night, while goalie Ellie Bartalon made 12 saves between the pipes.
Ledwin Villafana assisted on Thayer’s tally.
Vincent Gauthier won the boys race with a time of 17 minutes, 40 seconds, helping Mohawk Trail get past Palmer in an independent meet on Friday.
Emmett Johnson was second and Peter Healy took fourth for the Warriors.
On the girls side, Anya Reid won the race for Mohawk Trail in 24:05, followed by teammates Natalie Lanoue (second) and Valerie Bzomowski (third).
