Monthly puzzle swap planned for Saturday

NORTHFIELD — Free used puzzles will be available at Dickinson Memorial Library on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Attendees are advised to park in the back and enter through the side door of the library. Turn left to find the Community Room.

Participants are invited to take as many puzzles as they want, and can keep them as long as they need. The puzzle swap is offered monthly.

Powers Institute Museum open on Sunday

BERNARDSTON — The Powers Institute Museum at 20 Church St. will be open Sunday, Sept. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m.

According to a notice from Bernardston Historical Society President Louella Atherton, recent acquisitions include a large wooden plaque commemorating the 50th anniversary of Streeter’s Store in 1975 and a set of Bernardston Inn dishes from the estate of Betty Pappas.

Two attendants will be on hand to answer questions. There is ample parking in the back and the building is accessible by elevator.

Three ‘Happy Feet’ walks set for September

NORTHFIELD — The Northfield Senior Center’s “Happy Feet” walking group will embark on three walks this month.

On Monday, Sept. 12, at 9:30 a.m., participants can meet at the Satan’s Kingdom parking area on Old Vernon Road and walk on the paved road while observing wildlife. Seniors with a walker or wheelchair who have someone to assist them are encouraged to attend, and dogs on leashes are welcome.

On Monday, Sept. 26, at 9:30 a.m., walkers can meet at FirstLight Hydro Generating Co.’s pavilion parking lot off Route 63, according to a Senior Center newsletter. The roughly 4-mile walk will take participants down Pine Meadow Road, under the French King Bridge and to Cabot Camp. Dogs on leashes are welcome.

Lastly, regular walks with Northfield Elementary School students resume on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 10:45 a.m. Meet at the Senior Center.
