Dear Readers,
On Aug. 11, a My Turn submission was published on the Recorder’s opinion page that did not meet our editorial standards for civility and fairness.
At a minimum, the piece should have been edited more carefully and we have had a discussion about it in the newsroom to ensure we do better in the future.
I would like to remind contributors to the opinion page that this is a forum that welcomes a diversity of opinions, viewpoints and a respectful exchange of ideas. It is not a place to denigrate and belittle others. There are plenty of places on the internet for that, but not on this page.
