Brady Burch and Matt Sicard both found the back of the net to lift host Frontier past Pittsfield, 2-0, on Thursday in the semifinals of the Pioneer Valley Summer Soccer League.
Chanhee Son dished an assist while Sicard and David Pettinato played strong defense in the win. Niko Lorantos made eight saves for the Redhawks.
Thomas Memorial
The Thomas Memorial Women’s Golf League held its third annual Solheim Cup on Wednesday, a competition where the participants are split into an International Team and Team USA.
Christine Graves and Sally Bernard won the 2-person scramble while Terry Sall, Lynn Wiles, Donna McKemmie, Jean Laczynski, Deb Cote, Nancy Browning and Sally Malloy won match play to lead Team USA to an 8-4 win.
For the International Team, Dorothy Adams and Katelyn Mailloux-Little won a 2-person scramble, Susan Mailloux, Terry Rae and Karen Hopkins won a 3-person scramble and Robin Hartnett and Cynthia Marchand earned match play wins.
Malloy shot the low gross of 39, Marchand had the low net of 27 while Hopkins won closest to the pin (10 feet, 5.5 inches).
Timmons-Messer
Ronnie Parker and Rodney Ebbighausen shot the low gross of 34, with Kyle Matteson and Ed Terault taking second with a 36, in the Timmons-Messer League at the Northfield Golf Course on Wednesday.
Paul Barnard and Tom Gusan recorded the low net of 25 while John Mackin and Sunny Lucas won a match of cards to take second in net scoring (27).
Scott Powers won closest to the pin on No. 6 (5-4) and Ebbighausen won on No. 7 (1-9). Mike Stephens was the match medalist with a 38 followed by Parker with a 39.
