GREENFIELD — Police say the man suspected of firing at least 12 rounds into the front door of a Greenfield Gardens apartment before fleeing on Monday was arrested in Springfield on an outstanding warrant and arraigned Tuesday in Hampden County, where he was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail.

The black Honda Accord that Qadree Hutchins, 27, of Springfield, was allegedly driving has been secured by law enforcement, Greenfield Police Lt. Dan McCarthy confirmed Tuesday.

Regarding Monday’s Greenfield incident, acting Police Chief William Gordon said an arrest warrant has been signed for discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of a firearm without a license to carry (fourth offense), possession of ammunition without an FID card, vandalism, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. Hutchins has not been arraigned yet in Greenfield District Court, Gordon said Tuesday afternoon.

The Greenfield Police Department previously reported that a man approached the front door of a residence on Forbes Court at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Monday and began aggressively knocking and yelling into the residence. When he did not get a response, the man allegedly fired at least four shots — from what is believed to be a 9 mm pistol — into the door.

One of the shots penetrated the front door, went through the residence and through the back door, exiting into the apartment’s backyard. According to police, no one was home at the time.

The man then reportedly walked back to the vehicle, a black Honda Accord, and fired at least eight more rounds into the residence before fleeing the scene, police say.

The State Police Detective Unit, as well as the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and ballistics units, were called to Forbes Court to assist in the investigation. According to police, the incident is the third shooting in Greenfield since mid-June, not including several other calls where firearms were located and taken into custody for being illegally possessed.
