As the spouse of a Vietnam Veteran, I’m pleased and grateful that the VA medical center in Leeds will remain open. As I read the article though, I’m worried. Congress passed and Trump signed this VA MISSION ACT. Its intent was to close three facilities. But, because the AIR commission didn’t have appointees, the closures are canceled. Four years later. But the Mission Act still exists, so I’m left wondering if this will come up again, and when. The one thing that seems to get bipartisan support is caring for veterans. But with someone like Trump in charge, all bets are off.
