I note that the Greenfield Garden Cinema is showing a film called “2000 Mules” by DineshD’Souza. According to the description of the film, it puts forth the conspiracy theory that ballot boxes were illegally stuffed during the 2020 residential election for the purpose of electing President Biden.
Anyone who watches this film needs to know how easy it is to manipulate visual images, both stills and videos. The film is nonsense. Anyone who watches this film also needs to watch the House of Representatives January 6 Committee’s hearings, which reveal the truth of the election fraud put over on the American people — the fraud originating with then President Trump, who lied and continues to lie, and who criminally pressured election officials to manipulate the vote and to support his lies.
A conspiracy theory is defined as a belief in “a secret arrangement by a group of powerful people to usurp political or economic power, violate established rights, hoard vital secrets, or unlawfully alter government institutions.” Donald Trump’s lies are the real conspiracy. The real fraud being put over on the American people is the plan to turn our democracy into a sham, where only the rich and powerful call the shots.
The evidence of Biden’s legitimate win of the 2020 election is indisputable, but Trump’s Republican Party promotes the false claim that Trump won the 2020 election. As it does so, it chips away at our voting rights, promotes inequality and injustice, and undermines all that is of value in our system of government. It does this by manipulating its supporters with falsehoods and fear. This is where the real danger to our democracy lies, not in some doctored images that try to convince us of falsehoods.
