8:03 p.m. — Greenfield Police request assistance on Turners Falls Road after a 14-year-old called 911 to report her mother got out of the car to find her phone and left her and her 3-month-old sister in the car for what had turned into 40 minutes. All units were tied up on other calls at the time. Greenfield Police later advised someone would be coming to the station to report a stolen cellphone.

Tuesday, May 10

12:42 a.m. — Caller from the F.L. Roberts gas station reports a woman came into the store and stated she had been assaulted. She refused medical attention and the caller said the store was locked after she expressed that she was in danger. Two Greenfield officers and State Police also responded. Police were on the lookout for a family member due to assault and battery while pregnant.

3:37 p.m. — Caller from Millers Falls Road reports a woman hitting her. The woman could be heard yelling in the background. Gone on arrival.

Wednesday, May 11

12:19 p.m. — Walk-in from 11th Street reports a man stole ashes from a glass vase in her home. Requested a call from an officer.

2:55 p.m. — A Department of Children and Families employee reports a runaway juvenile. The juvenile was supposed to be escorted by DCF, but ran off with other juveniles. The party was entered into the National Crime Information Center and Greenfield Police went on the lookout. DCF later reported the missing party left Greenfield High School, but was known to have a boyfriend in Turners Falls. The juvenile would possibly be staying on Fourth Street for the night.

Thursday, May 12

7:54 p.m. — Walk-in reports that around 4:45 p.m., someone sold her an iPhone that she later suspected had been stolen. When she tried to contact the man that sold it to her, he blocked her and stopped responding. Walk-in just wanted it on record.

Friday, May 13

3:19 a.m. — Cashier at the F.L. Roberts gas station advises a man walked into the store with blood on his hands, face and sweatshirt, and attempted to make a purchase. Cashier said he refused the money, which was soaked in blood, before the man became aggressive, made a threat and left. Man then left on a purple bike toward Fourth Street.

10:25 p.m. — Caller from Keith Street reports her neighbor’s boyfriend was pounding on the door trying to get into the apartment. Caller was concerned and wanted to make sure her neighbor was OK. Police spoke to the man, who said he would be quiet for the rest of the night.

Saturday, May 14

7:38 a.m. — Caller from near Between the Uprights on Avenue A said his 26-inch electric bike was stolen from the bar the previous night after the lock was cut.

11:55 a.m. — Caller from Millers Falls Road and West Mineral Road said a motorcyclist crashed in the road. Operator was standing, but appeared possibly injured. An ambulance request was put out to Shelburne Control and Rau’s Sunoco Service was called to tow the motorcycle.

Sunday, May 15

12:43 a.m. — Caller on Fifth Street states he was going to let his son stay the night, but the son then became verbally abusive. Caller wanted him gone. The son left prior to police arrival.

Monday, May 16

7 a.m. — Caller reports the handicapped portable toilet at Unity Park was vandalized again.

9:25 a.m. — Caller from Wrightson Avenue reports a black bear was in the area at 6:15 a.m.

Tuesday, May 17

8:13 a.m. — Caller from Avenue A and Fifth Street states an older woman was holding up a sign and standing in a crosswalk before walking into traffic with her sign. Drivers thought she was walking out in front of traffic, so everyone slammed on their brakes, but she didn’t cross the street. Police located the woman, who was holding a sign related to voting, and told her to stay out of the road.

3:53 p.m. — Caller from Federal Street states a tree fell on the wires near her house, causing the power to go out. Caller said cars could get around. Police later advised the tree was out of the road, but the Eversource pole sustained damage. Eversource was contacted, requested an officer to stand by for roughly 15 minutes.

Wednesday, May 18

4:21 a.m. — Caller from Ware reports harassment from a man in Montague. He said the man made threats to his sister, who was safe in New Hampshire. Caller was advised of his options and Ware Police Department was en route to his house to take a report.

10:24 a.m. — Caller from Unity Park requests assistance with a vehicle lockout. A child was locked inside.

Thursday, May 19

9:38 p.m. — Caller from Seventh Avenue believes someone had been using a smartphone to record the inside of his house because he could see the reflection of the light from the phone in his TV. Caller said when he got up from his chair to go look, the person took off. This also reportedly happened the previous night and possibly once in March.

Friday, May 20

3:46 p.m. — Walk-in requests to speak with an officer regarding strange activity on Facebook.

10:17 p.m. — Caller from Gabriel Farm reports people trespassing on his property who said they were looking for mushrooms. Police advised the parties had been verbally trespassed. Caller didn’t want to pursue anything further.

Saturday, May 21

9:35 p.m. — Caller from East Main Street Realty reports people trying to get into the building and banging on the doors and windows for around an hour. Police later advised that the situation was resolved. A resident was trying to get in and didn’t have his keycard. He was apparently intoxicated and refused to give his information, but they were able to identify which apartment was his.

Sunday, May 22

2:24 a.m. — Caller states he got a call from his sister at Central Street stating that a mother bear and two cubs were coming onto her porch. Bears left prior to officer arrival.

2:43 p.m. — Shelburne Control took a call from a woman on K Street who said her mother may be intoxicated and using drugs. She was throwing things around the apartment. Shelburne Control dispatched an ambulance. Police advised the altercation was verbal only and the parties separated.

Monday, May 23

9:26 p.m. — Open line from K Street. Dispatchers could hear someone saying “hello” and moaning.

9:43 p.m. — Caller from the laundromat on Third Street reports a group of kids vandalizing the place, being loud and causing a disturbance. Involved males were found in the building charging their phones, with no damage noted to the business. They added that they were trying to catch an opossum that had gotten inside.

Tuesday, May 24

10:50 a.m. — Caller from the laundromat on Third Street reports two kids smashed the front window to the laundromat.

4:01 p.m. — Caller near the intersection of Avenue A and Fourth Street states a group of kids fighting in the street with lots of yelling and screaming. A second caller said she could hear a large fight. A group of kids was moved along.

Wednesday, May 25

6:55 p.m. — Caller from Greenfield Road reports a fraudulent company claiming to do advertising for businesses that was working with Food City to put ads on reusable bags. Caller spoke with the Food City manager, who said they received a few calls about this and that it was fraud. The company was called Marc Group.

Thursday, May 26

9:03 a.m. — Caller from Randall Road states her neighbor slashed the screen and cracked the glass on the window to her kitchen overnight. Neighbor had been making threats toward her and told the landlord she was planning on “taking it out on her.”

Friday, May 27

1:59 p.m. — Owner of Swanson’s Fabrics reports receiving threats via Facebook that people would come loot her shop at night. She said she would call back at around 3 p.m. when she would be at the shop so an officer could speak with her.

Saturday, May 28

8:23 a.m. — Caller from Randall Road reports her cat wandered into the neighbor’s open door and when she went to get her cat, the neighbor had a knife. She claimed to be fixing her door and no threats were made. Police confirmed that the neighbor was fixing her door and that no threats were made. All other services were declined.

8:45 p.m. — Caller from Fourth Street reports a large group of kids causing a disturbance. Police spoke to an involved male party who said he was hit by a female party earlier. A witness said that was not what happened. Nobody wanted to pursue the matter.

Sunday, May 29

7:53 p.m. — Caller from Fourth Street states there was a group of kids outside threatening to jump her. A juvenile male was advised of his court options.

9:31 p.m. — Caller from Central Street states there was a large group of youths in the road yelling, throwing things and lying in the middle of the road. Caller said this had been going on for 30 minutes.

Monday, May 30

7:49 p.m. — Caller from Route 2 in Gill reports a vehicle almost caused multiple accidents while traveling down the road. Vehicle continued east on Route 2 when the caller turned over the bridge into Turners Falls. Information was given to Shelburne Control. Caller then said it looked like there was an unrestrained child in the front seat and that the driver looked like he was nodding off.

8:17 p.m. — Caller from Turners Falls Road requests to speak to an officer about her neighbor stalking and harassing her. States she was watching the sunset and the man next door was staring at her. Man reportedly parked his truck facing directly into her house and watched her. Her husband confronted the man, starting a minor verbal argument before parties separated. Caller wanted to speak with an officer about the ongoing issues. Caller was advised of her options.

Tuesday, May 31

4:21 p.m. — Chief reports loose horses running north of Lake Pleasant Road on Federal Street. Police originally couldn’t locate the horses and later checked with local farms. One of the farms said some horses get loose, but they had since secured them.

Wednesday, June 1

9:40 p.m. — Caller from East Main Street Realty reports a woman trying to attack her. Caller was inside her apartment and the woman was outside. Police advised it was a verbal altercation and that the mildly intoxicated woman was now inside with a friend who agreed to let her stay.

Thursday, June 2

10:13 a.m. — Caller near the intersection of Avenue A and Fourth Street observed a man get into a shiny, burgundy-colored Mini Cooper-type vehicle carrying a handgun in a black holster 10 minutes prior. Unable to locate.

8:48 p.m. — Anonymous caller from Unity Park reports a red car parked at the basketball court with two people inside who appeared to be having sex. Police advised the parties were the daughter of the vehicle owner and her boyfriend, both of whom were fully clothed.

Friday, June 3

11:50 p.m. — Caller from Old Northfield Road reports a car off the road. Caller said two parties were possibly intoxicated and when offered help, they became belligerent and drove off. Shelburne Control was contacted to dispatch fire and EMS departments. Rau’s Sunoco Service was called in for towing and courtesy transport was provided for a passenger to the station. Greenfield Police made contact with the mother, advised her of the situation.

11:57 p.m. — Caller from Marshall Street states she was on her screened-in porch when she heard a man on the phone comment, “Are you sure I’m breaking into the right house?” When the caller asked what he was doing, the man said he was waiting for someone before taking off on foot toward Stevens Street.
