I am writing regarding the vacancy on the Narragansett Regional School District School Committee. I would like to be appointed to the open seat on the committee. I took the time to pull papers to get on the ballot. I have received support in both communities of Templeton and Phillipston.
As the person who received the second most votes, I think the voice of the voters should be the first priority in appointing the new committee member. I am committed and willing to serve on the committee, and I would love the opportunity to do so. I have three young children in the school district and will be a parent here for the next 12 years. I think having parents involved is an important aspect of any school committee. I would like the opportunity to serve my community and most importantly the children and our local school district.
I would like to point out that many districts are changing their charters and procedures for filling vacancies so that the appointment in an election is made by designating the next highest vote getter who is still willing and eligible to serve. Thank you.
