One of the earliest hospitals that Greenfield had was located on the corner of Main and Conway streets. It was called the Trails Inn. It had many rooms in its building so it was a good place for the town’s hospital.

In the early years of the 20th century, a new hospital was built on High Street at the same location as the one today.

Over these many years wings were built and added to the original building. A new surgery wing was recently put in place. A large parking lot was added where the Holy Trinity school was once located.

Why I like this hospital is because the care that one receives in the emergency room or as a regular patient is exceptional. I personally have had several operations done there and everything went well for me.

The gift shop there is also great. One can purchase a gift for a patient there at that time or later give to someone else. The women that staff the shop are very kind and will help anyone to find what they are looking for.

Many of the surgeons, doctors and nurses have been there for many years and they all do their best to get everyone well again.

If you need to go to the hospital, Baystate Franklin is the place to go for care and hopefully it will always be there for us.
