In watching Ken Burns’s documentary of Benjamin Franklin who at one time was an assistant postmaster, was able to mail a letter in Philadelphia and have it delivered to New York City in 24 hours.
Our postal service has came a long ways since then.
My neighbor who lives less than an eighth of a mile from me mailed me a Christmas card. The letter carrier picked up the card and went pass my mailbox to the Petersham Post Office. Next it was sorted and sent to the Athol Post Office. From there it was delivered to Boston where it was postmarked. The following day I received the card. That was three days.
Ben our postal service is in the red and could use your help.
