GREENFIELD — Ice Cream Alley at 221 Main St. is opening for its fifth season starting Friday, April 15.
“We’ve made it through the last couple of challenging years with a few bumps and scrapes, but we’re coming back stronger than ever,” said managing owner Beth Diamond. “And we’re thrilled that our expanded outdoor dining area will be returning this year. Enjoy the downtown street life along with your ice cream and watch our garden grow throughout the season.”
The business offers a curated collection of ice cream from local producers, along with extensive vegan options such as vegan sundaes, shakes and iced lattes. Fresh-pressed hot coffee (both regular and decaf) is joining the cold-brew coffee on the menu. Milkshakes are also available.

GREENFIELD — Northwestern Mutual announced earlier this month that more than 100 of its financial advisors — more than ever before — have been listed among the best in their state according to a 2022 ranking by Forbes.
This ranking includes Merrill Gagne, wealth management advisor with Gagne Wealth Management Group, located at 238 Main St. in Greenfield.
“Northwestern Mutual’s dedicated and highly skilled financial advisors continue to set new standards and break records in wealth management,” Aditi Javeri Gokhale, the company’s chief strategy officer, president of retail investments and head of institutional investments, said in a press release. “I’m deeply grateful for our advisors’ tireless efforts to help a growing number of Americans plan for the future, and thrilled to see the well-deserved recognition they continue to earn for delivering greater value and peace of mind to the clients they proudly serve.”
Forbes’ Best-In-State Wealth Advisors are nominated by their firms, and each advisor is vetted, interviewed and assigned a ranking by SHOOK Research, the press release explains. SHOOK takes a variety of factors into consideration when evaluating nominees, including industry experience, compliance records, revenue produced and assets under management. Forbes receives more than 30,000 applicants annually, and only a small percentage are named among the best wealth advisors in their state.
Gagne graduated from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2007. He majored in finance and economics with a focus on investments. Gagne was honored early on as a top producer at Northwestern Mutual, including No. 1 in the platinum category for the eastern region. He holds an investment advisor designation in Massachusetts and 25 other states across the country.
