My initial thought after viewing the three-minute, twenty-eight thousand dollar Greenfield promo video … where’s the beef? For a $28,000 price tag, the video projects what seems to be a lack of critical growth potential and a dose of city-official marketing. The focal points are recreational, with home-based business opportunities and a semi-technical explanation of a local internet offering. Downtown and industrial site prospects are virtually overlooked though an eatery and a pair of small business are briefly shown. Where’s the beef?

I guess the subliminal message is supposed to project the business opportunities. Subliminal indeed. If I were a business looking to locate here I’d like a firm message telling me that Greenfield would be a better choice than other locations, i.e., proximity to a major highway, a modern rail system, an airport six miles away, a strategically located business/industrial park. Alternatively, if one is looking to locate to Greenfield as a “nice place” to settle in, then maybe the message will have a positive influence. Let’s hope so, we need more taxpayers to keep up with the spending. In closing, the video is buried deep within the city’s website. It’s accessibility is remote. It’s supposed to be promotional, not “a hidden gem.” Additionally, the video, if you viewed it, cost $8,750 a minute. I’ll have a spicy chicken sandwich please … hold the main ingredient. Whodathunkit!
