I don’t live in Shelburne Falls or Buckland so the proposed task force to investigate ways to improve the profitability of businesses post-COVID in the village is irrelevant to me. However, it raises an alarming and a continuing trend among government at all levels. Task forces and committees are a great way to pat oneself on the back, but they accomplish nothing. I’ll solve the village’s problems for them: less regulations, less hoops to jump through for new businesses, and lower taxes. I’m obviously over-simplifying for sake of space, but government from the federal level down has failed citizens and small business since COVID. It’s time to put faith back in the individual rather than big brother.
