It has recently come to my attention that the town of Newton has banned the sale of alcoholic beverages in nip bottles. This ordinance was approved as constitutional by the state attorney general. Many other towns and cities in Massachusetts are considering actions. I completely support a similar ordinance for Greenfield. Nip bottles are little poison bombs that you can put five in your pocket. They promote alcoholism and drunk driving as well as littering. If you walk around downtown Greenfield you will see empty nip bottles everywhere. I have seen this. They are like bigger hypodermic needles. I urge the mayor and the town council to ban nip bottles as soon as possible. I urge everyone to call the mayor and their City Council member to express their support.
