I don’t watch much television now; it is too hard to understand. Once in a while I check on the weather in the morning. When I do, I think of my English teacher, back in high school. When we studied writers, she would require each of us to read in front of the class. I liked poetry so I would pick a short poem and practice so I could read it fast. The first time in front of the class she immediately stopped me and said, you seem to understand what you’re reciting well, is it good, do you understand the words? I said, of course. She said perhaps if you would slow down and properly pronounce your words, maybe this class and I would enjoy it too.
It’s a crime what they’re getting away with, speeding everything up to get more ads in. Remember the good old days, all you needed was an aerial and perhaps a rotor to get all the television you needed. When the air space was ours, and the government had some control over how it was used. Now we are paying more money each month for satellites or cable than an aerial that lasted for years. Remember the hype when this all changed to digital, about how great television was going to be with the change. Great for their pocket books not ours, is what they meant. When did it all change from, of the people, by the people, for the people to, of the money, by the money, for the money?
