BERNARDSTON — Cushman Library will lead a virtual discussion of “Blessed Are the Cheesemakers” by Sarah-Kate Lynch, a story of “two lost souls” who find themselves working on an Irish dairy farm, on Monday, Nov. 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The discussion will be held via Zoom, so those who would like to participate should contact Library Director Karen Stinchfield at cushmanlibrary@gmail.com to receive the link. Cushman Library has several copies of the book available at the circulation desk to borrow.
Set on a small Irish dairy farm, the novel follows two lost souls as they try to carve out new lives amid a colorful cast of characters reminiscent of those in the hit film “Waking Ned Divine,” according to a Cushman Library press release. Abby, estranged from the family farm since her rebellious mother ran off with her when she was a child, and Kit, a New York stockbroker who’s life has just imploded, converge on the farm just in time to help Corrie and Fee, two old cheesemakers who are hoping to find the next generation to keep their award-winning cheese operation running into the future.
Cushman Library is open on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with COVID-19 health safety protocols in place, including mandatory masks. The library also continues to offer contactless curbside pick-up on Mondays from 2 to 6 p.m. In addition, patrons who are immunocompromised who would like to enter the library but cannot do so during full open hours are welcome to make a Monday appointment for an indoor visit by calling 413-648-5402.
