DEERFIELD — The Selectboard approved setting the sewer rate at $16.38 per 1,000 gallons and the town’s tax rate at $15.17 per $1,000 valuation for fiscal year 2022.
Selectboard member Trevor McDaniel said setting the sewer rate at $16.38, a 14% increase from fiscal year 2021, will help the town secure money for Phase 2 of upgrades to the South Deerfield Wastewater Treatment Plant, find a fourth employee for the plant and provide funding for additional capital needs.
Selectboard members said the tax rate, which was $15.85 per $1,000 valuation in the previous fiscal year, decreased because businesses have been coming to town and they want to treat businesses fairly.
CONWAY — First half fiscal year 2022 tax bills have been mailed to residents.
The deadline for payment is Nov. 29. Bills may be paid online on the town website or mailed to Town of Conway, P.O. Box 240, Conway, MA 01341. Payment can also be made in person at the Treasurer’s Office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
SUNDERLAND — The town is updating its five-year housing plan and is asking for resident input through a community survey.
The survey can be accessed on the Housing Committee’s page on the town website in either English or Spanish. The committee asks residents to complete the survey by Nov. 30.
Physical copies of the survey are also available at the Town Offices, Sunderland Public Library and the Sunderland Post Office. Completed surveys may be returned to the Town Offices’ mailbox, which is located at the back of the building, or in a lockbox on the first floor.
