WENDELL — Alisha Brouillet has a diverse résumé that includes sales and marketing administrator, office manager and bookkeeper, and booth-renting hairdresser. Since late July, she has been able to add town coordinator.

The former assistant town clerk took the reins in this town of roughly 900 after being appointed by the Selectboard following the retirement of longtime Town Coordinator Nancy Aldrich. Unlike her predecessor, who split her 40 hours a week also holding New Salem’s top spot, Brouillet will serve only Wendell.

“I love it. It’s really great. Town government is different than what I’ve been doing, so I’m learning a lot and there’s just always stuff going on,” she said. “Nancy’s very available if I have questions, so that’s been very helpful.”

Brouillet, 43, grew up in New Salem and lives in Wendell, having previously lived in Deerfield and Erving as well. She is a graduate of Swift River School and graduated from Ralph C. Mahar Regional School in 1996. She most recently worked as a sales and marketing administrator for an ultraviolet lighting equipment manufacturer in West Springfield for 2½ years. Prior to that, she was a part-time office manager and bookkeeper. Since 2011, she has been a professional hairdresser.

“I wanted something where I could be social and creative and be on my feet, kind of going,” she said, adding that she currently works at Absolutely Fabulous Hair in Greenfield.

Brouillet had held the assistant town clerk job, which consists of a few hours of work per week, when she heard Aldrich was retiring. She was selected following an interview process.

“It was pretty amazing — to know that I was qualified and that this would be a good fit,” she said. “There’s so many things going on and I really enjoy multitasking, so it’s a good fit for me.”

In her new role, Brouillet will also conduct some work for the assessors’ office. She will work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

“I hope to make it so that I can be a good resource for the town,” she said. “Not that Nancy wasn’t, but to be able to be here and be available and for there to be good communication between all of the departments — that’s what I hope for the town.”
