Back in the 1920s, my parents bought themselves a player piano. The maker was possibly Kimball and Campbell.
Whenever there was a family gathering, everyone would surround that piano and sing and play the rolls on it. It helped to keep everyone happy and what a joy it was to listen to it.
When my parents moved to Shattuck Street in Greenfield, it had to be moved but no door was wide enough to move it in. It ended up going through a wide window in my parents’ bedroom.
When they moved again to High Street, the window in that apartment living room was wide enough to get it in. That was where it was for many years. When it was in the bedroom, it did not get that much use.
Movers had to be hired to move it and lift it up two stories high.
Many a time I used it to play my favorite songs and all the family enjoyed using it as well.
Just another memory. May you all enjoy reading about it.
