TURNERS FALLS — A fire at 55 Park St. caused serious damage on the second and third floors of the three-story apartment on Sunday, according to officials on scene.
Turners Falls Fire Chief John Zellmann said that this was a third-alarm fire.
The cause of the fire and how many people were inside the building are currently unknown.
Bernardston Fire Chief Peter Shedd said the fire began toward the rear of the building and that all occupants were able to escape. Shedd said that the only known injury is a minor burn sustained by a child.
Emergency responders arrived on scene at around 2:45 p.m. By around 3:45 p.m., emergency responders from Turners Falls, Montague Center, Greenfield, Gill, Bernardston, Erving, Orange, South Deerfield, Deerfield, Whately, Sunderland, Northfield and South County EMS were present.
Shedd said that the damage sustained to the structure was “pretty heavy on the second and third floor.”
Tankers and hydrants were used to pump water.
